"A Place at the Table" Film Screening

The St. Louis IX Art Society and Saint Joseph Abbey are pleased to present a showing of “A Place at the Table: African-Americans on the Path to Sainthood”!

There are no African-American Saints formally recognized within the Catholic Church, but that could soon change. There are six incredible black men and women who are on the path to Canonization. The Catholic Church is starting to recognize their impact and may soon name any or all of them Saints. It's time to hear their stories.

  • Venerable Pierre Toussaint

  • Servant of God Mother Mary Lange

  • Venerable Henriette Delille

  • Venerable Fr. Augustus Tolton

  • Servant of God Julia Greeley

  • Servant of God Sr. Thea Bowman

The screening is free to attend, but $20 donations are encouraged. Funds raised will benefit The St. Louis IX Art Society’s mission of promoting a culture of arts in South Louisiana.

This event will take place on Thursday, September 26th, from 6:30-9:00pm at Benet Hall of St. Joseph Abbey.

Doors open at 6:00pm and the screening will begin at 6:30. The film will end at about 8:30 PM and will be followed by a Q&A presentation with the director, David Michael Warren.

Attendees will also get a sneak peak of Stella Maris Film’s newest documentary project.
