Advent Mission Chamber Concert | Basilica of St. Stephen (New Orleans)

The Basilica of St. Stephen and Good Shepherd Parish cordially invite the Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of New Orleans to attend their Advent Mission Chamber Concert on Sunday, December 14th, 2025, from 4:00-5:20pm at the Basilica of St. Stephen in New Orleans.

This mission will be an evening of Eucharistic adoration, Advent preaching and reflection, and live sacred music.

An Advent Mission Chamber Concert is an offering of the St. Louis IX Art Society to Catholic parishes in South Louisiana. These events are solemn, yet powerful, evenings of Eucharistic adoration and meditative and contemplative prayer assisted by beautiful sacred music and captivating preaching.

Each mission begins with Eucharistic Exposition and concludes with Benediction. Between these two “moments,” there is an interplay of live sacred music performed by a chamber concert and liturgically-focused preaching by a mission preacher.

The sacred music is curated to match the focus and movement of the preaching, such that all in attendance are inwardly moved by the live musical performance to better reflect upon the content of the preaching before the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament.

Fr. Andrew Gutierrez, Chair of Pastoral Theology and Professor of Sacramental Theology at Notre Dame Seminary, will serve as the Mission Preacher, and James Rosenbloom as the curator and director of the chamber concert.

This event is free and open to the public, so we hope you will join us!
