Catholic art Showcase
In order to promote a culture of Catholic art in South Louisiana, SL9 hosts Catholic Art Showcases in the Archdiocese of New Orleans and surrounding dioceses. These events provide an opportunity for the local Catholic faithful and non-Catholics to view firsthand the faith-inspiring work of our SL9 artists, to meet and converse with them, and to provide programming to hear our artists speak about how the Catholic faith informs their artistic creativity. Our first Catholic Art Showcase took place in November, 2021, at Notre Dame Seminary.
Catholic Art Lecture
The St. Louis IX Art Society exists to create a culture of Catholic art in South Louisiana. As an integral part of this mission, SL9 hosts an annual Fall lecture devoted to some aspect of Catholic art history, which ranges from the life and work of a given Catholic artist to the manner in which a particular Catholic doctrine or idea has been portrayed in various works of art across time and cultures.
For our Fall 2022 lecture, SL9 Artist Blair Gordy Piras will be our presenter. This event will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2022 in the Schulte Auditorium at Notre Dame Seminary in New Orleans from 7:00-8:00 PM. Check back here for tickets as we get closer to the event.
